Longan season in South Florida peaks mid-July through September. Kohala, a Hawaiian selection, accounts for nearly all commercial acreage because of its reliable — if erratic year-to-year — bearing and good flavor. Thai varieties like Biew Kiew and Edau are increasingly planted for their potential to extend the season.
