Dragon Fruit

Dragon fruit (pitahaya) are fast-growing cacti native to Central America now grown widely in South Florida, California, Vietnam, and beyond. White-flesh varieties (Hylocereus undatus types) are the most common; red and dark-pink-flesh cultivars are prized for their striking color and bold flavor. Most require cross-pollination for reliable crops; a handful — American Beauty, Delight, Seoul Kitchen — are reliably self-fertile.
